Tutorial 3
Tutorial 3 (mandatory) has been scheduled for 15:30-17:30 on Wednesday March 14 in Etherington Hall 1020. In this tutorial, I will be giving you a hands-on introduction to several computer vision tools, including Jitter (this is a part of Max), cv.jit, Community Core Vision, Reactivision, and Microsoft Kinect. I will also help you to understand the protocols that allow for communication between these tools (TUIO, OSC, MIDI, serial, etc).
For this tutorial, please bring the following:
1. Some sort of digital camera (the camera built in to your laptop, or
a USB webcam that works with your laptop)
2. A Microsoft Kinect (if you got one for your project, or happen to
have one anyway – no need to buy one just for this tutorial)
3. A laptop with the following software downloaded and installed (all
of these are free, to the exception of Max, which is $59.00 for a 12-
month student license):
i. Max (http://cycling74.com/downloads/)
ii. cv.jit (http://jmpelletier.com/cvjit/)
iii. Community Core Vision (http://ccv.nuigroup.com/)
iv. Reactivision (http://reactivision.sourceforge.net/)
If you have trouble downloading or installing any of these, just let me know.
